Grassi Pietre (IT) 2016

The Marmomac booth, designed for Grassi Pietre in 2016, was born with the intention of exploring the potential of stone as a material to define space and establish a relationship with people.
The back wall, like a backdrop, represents an experiment aimed at highlighting the relationship between the lithic surface and light. The Stone panels with irregular modules are placed on 2 levels and are affected by the light both in a grazing and incident way. The surfaces are defined by the infinite processes: some inspired by tradition and made manually such as hammering, others are the result of more industrialized processes. The combination of smooth, jagged surfaces, illuminated areas, clear shadows and soft shadows aim to visualize the multiple aspects and infinite potential of the stone, highlighting the very structure of the material.
Within the setting, the Vicenza stone, in its various shades and finishes, maintains the main role but is always placed in relation with other materials: the polished marble in monolithic elements at different heights, raw metal structures and solid wood tieing everything together.
